Magnitude 5.8 quake hits southwestern Mexico: US observers

A magnitude 5.8 quake hit just off the coast of southwestern Mexico, the US Geological Survey said, but there were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The temblor, which struck at 0538 pm (0508 IST) yesterday, was centered 42 kilometres southwest of Santiago Pinotepa Nacional in Oaxaca state, according to the USGS.
It had a depth of 10 kilometres.
