Maharashtra unit of BJP is leaving no stone unturned to make grand the October 31 oath-taking ceremony of its first chief minister at Wankhede stadium in South Mumbai.
"All the state leaders of BJP, along with city police, SPG personnel and government officials have visited the stadium to oversee the arrangements being done there. We are working hard to ensure that this (oath taking) ceremony turns out to be a historic programme," BJP city unit chief Ashish Shelar told reporters here.
He added that BJP has chosen the sprawling stadium because of its capacity to house around 60,000 people and that the party wants to accommodate maximum people for the event.
"We have got this handsome mandate only because of the faith of people. We want maximum people to come and witness this ceremony and be a part of celebrations," he said.
BJP has convened a meeting of the newly-elected MLAs tomorrow to elect leader of its legislature party, who will be its chief minister, in the presence of party observers Union Home minister Rajnath Singh and party General Secretary J P Nadda.
Incumbent state unit chief Devendra Fadnavis is said to be in reckoning to don the mantle of BJP's first chief minister in the state.
Post the meet, the party is expected to stake claim to form government with the Governor.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, his cabinet colleagues, party stalwarts like L K Advani and Murli Manohar Joshi, consulate generals and representatives of industrial and business community are expected to be present at the swearing-in function.
State Governor Ch Vidyasagar Rao will administer an oath of office and secrecy to the chief minister along with his council of ministers.
