Maharashtra Cabinet today approved 27 amendments to its procurement policy being implemented since November last year.
The policy pertained to procurements of different materials in various government offices, undertakings and autonomous institutions.
An official in the Chief Minister's office said District Collectors, Zilla Parishad CEOs and other concerned authorities brought to the notice of industry department certain difficulties in the implementation.
"About 41 suggestions were made by different authorities and Chief Secretary took a review of these suggestions. Accordingly, 27 suggestions were approved and the amendments would be made in the policy," the official said.
The procurement policy was brought in by the government following allegations of iregularities in Women and Child Development and Education departments.
In another decision, the cabinet accorded administrative approval to the Shelgaon Barrage Medium Irrigation Project worth Rs 699 crore on Tapi river in jalgaon district.
A cabinet sub-committee was constituted to take decisions on setting up new Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats. Since formation of new Nagar Parishads and Nagar Panchayats is a continuous process, it is not practical to discuss the same in the cabinet meetings, the official added.
