Goa Police today rescued two girls from West Bengal who were trafficked to the coastal state for prostitution.
"Porvorim police who laid a trap arrested a Thane-based youth from Maharashtra, Rohit Bhagit who was involved in pushing both the girls into commercial sex trade in Goa," Police Inspector Jivba Dalvi told PTI.
Both girls were sent in a Protection Home near here.
Dalvi said police had information about the online sex racket which was being operated from state's North Coastal belt.
He said the trap was laid and Bhagit was asked to come with the girls at the national highway near Porvorim, where the police team was waiting.
"During investigation, Bhagit confessed that there are more people involved in the racket," Dalvi said, adding that more arrests in this case are likely to happen.
Bhagit was booked under various sections of Immoral Trafficking Act, 1956 and section 370 of IPC, the officer said, adding the accused's bank accounting containing Rs 1.10 lakh has been frozen by the police.
