Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan today said she would do her best to pass the Women Reservation Bill in Parliament in her tenure.
"I am for reservation... It is not favouring but women constitute half of the population and she is as capable as men," Mahajan told reporters here after attending the 50th anniversary of the Nagaland Legislative Assembly.
Mahajan said women should also enjoy their rights in policy and decision making.
"As a human being she has a right and nobody can take away her rights," she said.
Asked on the issue of Leader of Opposition status, Mahajan said as per rules there has to be at least 1/10th members of Parliament to get the status of LoP.
It depends if the House changes the rules, she said.
