Singh, who is on a visit to Gujarat, went to Sabarmati Ashram, a place near here, which is closely associated with the Father of the Nation.
"A visit to Sabarmati Ashram is a source of eternal inspiration," the Prime Minister wrote in his message in the visitor's book at the Ashram.
Singh was accompanied by Gujarat Governor Kamla Beniwal, Gujarat Pradesh Congress Committee (GPCC) chief Arjun Modhwadia, Leader of Opposition in Assembly Shankarsinh Vaghela and senior Congress leader Shaktisinh Gohil.
"Bapu's life and work are of eternal value and will continue to inspire the people of the world for many generations to come."
Before visiting the Ashram, Singh went to Rajiv Gandhi Bhavan, the headquarters of Gujarat Congress, in the city.
