The movie is directed by 'Parzania' helmer Rahul Dholakia, and produced by Farhan Akhtar and Ritesh Sidhwani under Excel Entertainment.
"Our leading lady in #Raees @themahirakhan @iamsrk @rahuldholakia @FarOutAkhtar," Sidhwani posted on Twitter along with a picture of Mahira.
The Karachi based actress' last big screen outing was in Shoaib Mansoor's highly acclaimed film 'Bol' (2011).
Mahira, who is married to her college sweetheart Ali Askari, is already a known face in India, thanks to her sensitive portrayal of Khirad in Pakistani TV drama 'Humsafar' on a leading channel.
