Maid murder case: forensic reports contradict police probe

In a new twist in the maid murder case in which ex-BSP MP Dhananjay Singh and his wife Jagriti Singh have been chargesheeted, the forensic reports contradict the finding of police on use of metallic horns, stick and iron in allegedly assaulting servants, including the victim.
In a supplementary charge sheet filed in the case before a court here, the police placed on record the reports received from the forensic science laboratory (FSL) according to which no blood was detected on iron press, stick and metallic horns.
"....It is stated that three exhibits i.E. Wooden danda (stick), two metallic horns and one electric iron were sent to FSL for examination. Blood or fibre/skin/tissue could not be detected on these exhibits," the supplementary charge sheet said.

In its first charge sheet filed in February this year against both the accused, the police had alleged that Jagriti, now under judicial custody, used to beat the three domestic helps with metallic deer horns, wooden sticks and iron.
The police had chargesheeted Jagriti for various offences punishable under the IPC, including sections 302 (murder), 307 (attempt to murder), 344 (illegal confinement), 506 (criminal intimidation) and 201 (destruction of evidence).
Dhananjay was chargesheeted for various offences under the IPC, including allegedly destroying the evidence and abetting the offence of murder and attempt to murder.
Both the accused were arrested on November 5 last year in connection with the death of their 35-year-old maid Rakhi Bhadra, a resident of West Bengal.

Bhadra's body, with injury marks on her legs, chest and arms, was recovered from Dhananjay's South Avenue residence here on the evening of November 4 last year. Dhananjay is at present out on interim bail.
