Maize futures up on fresh buying

Maize prices improved by Rs 16 to Rs 1,273 per quintal in futures trading today on the back of pick-up in demand in physical markets.
Marketmen said fresh buying from poultry and starch industry in spot markets mainly boosted trading sentiments here in futures trading.
At the National Commodity and Derivatives Exchange, maize prices for April contract moved up by Rs 16, or 1.27 per cent, to Rs 1,273 per quintal in an open interest of 22,620 lots.
Near May contracts also gained Rs 12, or 0.96 per cent, to Rs 1,259 per quintal with an open interest of 18,030 lots.
