The blaze, which started at the anti-corruption wing of CBI in the morning hours, was brought under control by the city Fire Brigade.
"A major fire broke out at the CBI office in the city this morning, in which some files got damaged," DCP (Crime) Deepali Masirkar said.
The CBI officials, however, did not reveal much about the mishap and only said that furniture and electrical equipments were gutted in the mishap.
According to sources, some files related the coal scam either got damaged or were completely gutted in the fire.
