He took over charge from ADG Major General Neeraj Verma who is now posted to Defence Services Staff College, Wellington, Tamil Nadu, as Major General in-charge Adminstration, an offical spokesman said.
Major General Jakhar was commissioned in the Rajput Regiment in December 1979 and since then has held numerous command and staff appointments.
He commanded his regiment in the Northern Sector and an Infantry Brigade in Rajasthan.
He was the Chief of Staff of Desert Corps before taking over the present appointment.
A grand farewell was accorded to outgoing ADG Major General N Verma by all officers and civil staff.
