Malabar Squirrel rescued

A Malabar Giant Squirrel, a large tree squirrel species, which strayed into government hospital complex here, was today rescued.
The squirrel, seen jumping from tree to tree, was trapped using net by fire and rescue service personnel and later released into the Kodaikanal forest area by forest personnel, Forester Tharukavanan told reporters here.
He said the squirrel would have come to Palani area along with the fruits or wood transported from Kodaikanal Forest.
The squirrel, a large bodied diurnal, will look as if flying when it jumps from one tree to the other and is also called flying squirrel.
