Malaviya's vision of India envisaged rapid development: Mishra

Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya's vision of the modern India envisaged rapid industrial and agricultural development of the country and for that he advocated education in the field of science and technology, Union MSME Minister Kalraj Mishra said here today.
Pandit Malaviya was a very well educated person as well as a great and mature national leader, Mishra said at a function on Celebration of Bharat Ratna posthumously Awarded to Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya.
"He was secular and worked for all Indians irrespective of their cast, creed, language and religion," Mishra said.
Mishra thanked the BHU Almuni Association -Kolkata for organising such an event here as he had close links with the city.
Speaking on the occasion, West Bengal Governor K N Tripathi said, Pandit Malaviya was among the top leaders and freedom fighters.
"The gamut of his activities was wide enough embracing the political, economic, social, educational and religious aspects which enabled him to influence all these spheres with equal felicity," Tripathi said.
Girish Chandra Tripathi, Vice Chancellor, Benaras Hindu University (BHU) said Pandit Malaviya himself embodied the very spirit of India.
"He was an un-paralleled leader. He was known as the best parliamentarian of his time. He worked for social reform and nation building," the VC lauded.
"He was the editor of the newspapers and journals too," the VC said while thanking the Centre, on behalf of BHU alumni, for awarding the Bharat Ratna to the great visionary.
