A low-cost Malaysian plane was today forced to return to Subang Airport in Selangor state soon after taking-off when one of its engines caught fire mid air.
The Malindo Air jet en route to Malaysia's eastern coastal Kuala Terengganu returned to the airport this morning after taking off at 7.35 am (local time), a spokesman said.
He said soon after the plane took off the fire was detected and the plane returned.
The pilot immediately reacted to the urgency and switched off the affected engine, before safely landing at the Subang airport, the spokesman added.
The number of passenger on the plane were not immediately known.
On March 8, a Malaysia Airlines flight MH370, carrying 239 people, mysteriously "ended" into the Indian Ocean shortly after taking off from Kuala Lumpur.
An International search, including aircraft and ships from over 20 nations, have been hunting to locate the debris of the plane.
