Malia, the eldest daughter of US President Barack Obama, would study at the Harvard University after completing her school, the First Family announced today.
"The President and Mrs Obama announced today that their daughter Malia will attend Harvard University in the fall of 2017 as a member of the Class of 2021," said a statement issued by the East Wing of the White House.
"Malia will take a gap year before beginning school," said the brief statement, which did not give any other details as to what the eldest daughter of the president would be doing in this gap year.
Yesterday, at the White House Correspondent's dinner Obama said that he would be staying in Washington DC for a few years so that his youngest daughter Sasha is able to complete her school.
"Me and Michelle, we've decided to stay in D.C. For a couple more years," Obama said during the annual dinner of the White House Correspondents Association.
"This way, our youngest daughter can finish up high school," he said and then made fun of the First Lady taking care of the White House kitchen garden and he going for a driving license.
"But our decision has actually presented a bit of a dilemma because, traditionally, Presidents don't stick around after they're done," Obama said and then showed a funny video of his life after White House.
