Banerjee described Goswami, who hails from the state, as the pride of Indian and West Bengal cricket.
"Congratulations @JhulanG10 Jhulan Goswami on this great achievement. You are the pride of Indian cricket and Bengal," Banerjee wrote on her Twitter handle tonight.
Goswami, achieved the feat after dismissing South African opener Laura Wolvaardt during the second ODI between India and South Africa played today in Kimberley.
It was the 35-year-old's 166th ODI.
Goswami became the highest wicket-taker in women's ODIs last May.
