West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee today held a meeting with some of her Cabinet colleagues and MPs in which various important issues were believed to have been discussed.
There was no official briefing, but Panchayat Minister Subrata Mukherjee, who was present at the meeting, told PTI that the Chief Minister wanted to meet some of her Cabinet colleagues and MPs to discuss various issues.
It was not a regular meeting, Mukherjee said.
Labour Minister Purnendu Bose, Urban development and Municipal Affairs Minister Firhad Hakim, Transport Minister Madan Mitra, Agricultural Marketing Minister Arup Roy, Irrigation Minister Rajib Banerjee, and Food Minister Jyotipriyo Mallick were also present at the deliberations.
Party MPs Mukul Roy, Subrata Bakshi, Sudip Bandyopadhyay and Kalyan Banerjee were also present.
Regarding the reports in a section of media that a party meeting was held at the state secretariat which is meant for government business only, Mukherjee said, "All ministers are party men too and they have every right to meet their leader (chief minister) at the state secretariat.
"Similarly, MPs can also meet their leader there. (There is) Nothing wrong in it."
Trinamool Congress General Secretary and party MP Mukul Roy said MPLAD-related issues figured at the meeting.
