West Bengal BJP president Dilip Ghosh today alleged that chief minister Mamata Banerjee was "responsible" for the indefinite shutdown in the Darjeeling hills.
The Darjeeling hills were peacefull but the Mamata Banerjee government set it on fire by making Bengali compulsory for all school students including those in Darjeeling, Ghosh alleged at a party programme at Kharibari gram panchayat area under the Siliguri sub-division.
The chief minister should now try to bring peace in the Darjeeling hills, Ghosh demanded.
The indefinite shutdown in Darjeeling hills demanding a separate state entered its 41st day today.
The shutdown is the second longest so far in the picturesque hill station. It had witnessed a 40-day bandh in 1988 by Gorkha National Liberation Front and a 44-day shutdown in 2013 by Gorkha Janamukti Morcha on the statehood issue.
