Mamta Modern Senior Secondary School defeated GBSSS Motibagh 2-0 in the final of STAIRS School Football League at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium here today.
Vandana International School and Stairs came third and fourth respectively in the tournament organised by NGO Stairs with support of German Embassy, Department of Education (DoE) NCT, Uflex Ltd. And Sports Authority of India.
128 teams were chosen for this year's tournament from about 500 schools which sent entries.
Sports Secretary Ajit Mohan Sharan, who was present in on occasion, said, "This is probably a beginning of a revolutionary football championship in India. It is a power game and the fever of football is gushing in the veins of Indian youth now. The spirit of the game is on the rise and credit goes to Stairs."
