The deceased had three cases of murder lodged against him and was facing trial in the sessions court in Peddapalli in alleged murder of a police constable and was out on bail.
The incident took place at around 8:30 am when three persons barged into Arukolla Srinivas's house in Udaya Nagar in Godavarikhani and brutally assaulted him, Assistant Commissioner of Police Apoorva Rao said.
According to the statement of Srinivas's wife, one Ravishankar and two others stabbed her husband to death.
The body has been sent to a government hospital in Peddapalli, nearly 70-km from here, for post mortem, Rao said, adding a case of murder has been registered and further probe is on.
