Man accused of murder held

An accused in a murder case was
held here while he was trying to flee from the city, police said today.
Ameer Sayyed Nawab Ali (25), a resident of Turbe area here, was arrested today from a shop in Kalamboli area in connection with murder of a man, Azgar Ashique Khan (30) on Sunday at the house of Ali's relative, senior inspector, Thane crime branch, Ravindra Doiphode said.
According to police, Ali had gone to his brother-in -laws house in Shil-Daighar area on Sunday for a party. There he picked up a scuffle with Khan, who was also present there, over his alleged lewd comments on a woman at the house.

Ali attacked Khan with stones, including his private parts, following which he was rushed to a nearby hospital. But, succumbed to serious wounds during treatment on March 24, the officer said.
After the attack, Ali fled from the spot and has been hiding in different places in Thane, he said, adding that he was trying to flee off to Uttar Pradesh yesterday when he was nabbed.
A case of murder (under IPC section 302) has been registered against Ali and further probe was on.
