Man arrested for allegedly abetting his wife's suicide

A 35-year-old head load worker from Kharkanpada in Vasai was arrested by the district police for allegedly abetting his wife's suicide, a police official said here today.
Police sub-inspector P N Nimbalkar of the Waliv police station told PTI that the accused and his mother tortured his 32-year-old wife Vanita Amrut Sukat, since she did not conceive, the police official said.
Due to frequent torture, she consumed poison and ended her life at about 3.30 pm on August 18, at her residence said, the police official said.
According to the police complaint lodged by her father, she was subject to physical and mental torture by her husband and mother-in-law due to which she committed suicide, the police official said.

The police have charged her husband and mother-in-law under Sections 306, Section 498A read with Section 34 of the Indian Penal Code, the police official said.
