Durga Singh allegedly tried to rape the girl, who was playing outside her home, after luring her to another house nearby, they said.
The minor girl then cried for help hearing which some villagers rushed to the house and rescued her. They also caught the accused and handed him over to the police, SHO of the Charthawal police station, D K Singh said.
A case has been registered on the complaint of the victim's father, he said adding further probe is on.
