"Hilal Ahmad Potoo was arrested near the bus stand in Sopore as he was extorting money from people by using a toy pistol," a police spokesperson said.
"A mobile phone, one fake currency note of Rs 1,000 denomination, Rs 850 and a toy pistol were recovered from his possession," he said.
Potoo has been arrested and a case has been registered against him, the spokesperson said, adding investigation is underway.
