A 19-year-old man was arrested for allegedly killing his live-in partner after suspecting her of cheating on him, police said today.

On March 31, a case was registered in northwest Delhi's Netaji Subhash Place after Imran allegedly killed his girlfriend and fled from the spot.

He was nabbed yesterday from near Yamuna Vihar Bus depot, Bhajanapura in northeast Delhi, the police said.

The accused was a smack addict and used to commit petty offences like pickpocketing in buses and markets.

A year ago, he came in contact with the woman, who belonged to Nepal, at a club in Netaji Subhash Place.

They fell in love and started living together. She earlier used to stay with her elder sister at a rented house in Shakurpur village.

The woman was in touch with other men as well which irked Imran and the couple had several fights over it.

On the evening of March 31, Imran and the woman were alone at the house when they started arguing over her other affairs, said Deputy Commissioner of Police (Northeast) AK Singla.

First, he strangulated her and then he hit a stand on her head three-four times, he said, adding that he fled from the spot after taking his belongings.
