While Prakash Mandal of Jodakhala village in the district was caught by forest officials during an operation, four of his accomplices managed to escape, said range officer (Aska) S K Nanda.
A country-made gun, venison, horns and skin of the animal were seized from Mandal when he was arrested on Saturday, he said.
