Tariq Ahmad Dar, a resident of Bugam village in Kulgam, was arrested this morning after locals complained that he had tried to molest a minor girl in his neighbourhood yesterday, Kulgam Superintendent of Police Mohammad Shafi Mir told PTI.
The incident led to minor protests in the village with locals demanding Dar's arrest.
"Locals complained about the incident to the police yesterday. A police team was deputed to the hospital where the girl had been admitted for medical check-up.
Police detained Dar's brother for questioning, but later set him free, he said.
"This morning we arrested Dar and are now waiting for the medical report," Mir said.
