The a 51-year-old woman from Belghoria, which is in the other part of the city, in her complaint said Abhik Chakraborty had on the pretext of marriage, developed physical relationship with her since 2008 when they met, they said.
"The woman claimed that they had a steady relationship, during which the accused took Rs 4 lakh from her. He then started avoiding her," police said.
On the basis of her complaint, an FIR was registered and the accused arrested, police said, adding he has been charged under sections 376 (punishment for rape), 417 (punishment for cheating) and 420 (cheating and dishonestly inducing delivery of property) of IPC.
