When the accused Lalit and Manoj were going towards Dakshinpuri from Malviya Nagar after purchasing liquor on a motorcycle, their vehicle brushed past a child near Triveni Complex in south Delhi, said Ravindra Yadav, joint commissioner of police (Crime).
Following this, they were thrashed by Kuldeep Sehrawat.
Manoj and Lalit wanted to take revenge from Sehrawat and when they saw him walking with his daughter near Chirag Delhi drain on January 30, they shot at him with their country-made pistols and fled from the spot, he said.
The victim wrangled with one of the accused and managed to pin him down to the ground but both the accused managed to flee, he added.
The victim was clueless about the identity of the attackers.
The team of Inter State Cell of Crime Branch, led by ACP Sanjay Sehrawat, under the supervision of DCP (Crime) Madhur Verma probing the case received information on January 31, that one of the accused, Lalit would be coming near Dear Park Corner, Harsukh Marg, Bhikaji Cama Road, Yadav said.
Lalit has also provided a specific clue about his associate Manoj and the weapon of offence, he added.
The accused has been previously involved in cases of robbery and dacoity, including robbery of a pistol from an armed force personnel.
