A fruit vendor has been arrested for allegedly sodomising a five-year-old boy in Maharashtra's Palghar district, police said today.
The 20-year-old accused took the boy from outside his house in Nallasopara, about 45 kilometres from here, at around 4pm yesterday and sexually assaulted him at an isolated place in Kazi Chawl in Vakanpada, said assistant inspector S S Chowdhary of Valiv police station.
The child told his parents about the incident following which they filed a compliant and police arrested the accused from the same locality last evening, he said.
The official said that an offence was registered against the accused for unnatural sex under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act.
