Ahmed, a resident of Loni, was arrested here yesterday after the actual owner of the vehicle chanced upon an advertisement on the website selling his car that was stolen from Noida Sector-21 last year, SP City Dinesh Yadav, said.
The complainant Kulwant Singh struck a deal with the accused and fixed a meeting with him, police said, adding Ahmed was arrested when he came for the deal.
Ahmed told the police that he had bought the car from Zulfikar few months ago and then decided to sell it off.
Triveni Singh, ASP, Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force, said such instances were not new and even stolen jewelery and mobile phones have found their way on online shopping sites.
