A man was arrested in West Bengal's Purba Bardhaman district for firing three rounds in the air during the wedding of his granddaughter, police said on Friday.
Police said they arrested Ramani Mondal after the incident happened on Thursday night in the district's Katwa area.
They said Mondal fired in the air when the groom arrived at the venue, a lodge at the Telephone Maidan neighbourhood.
He was arrested after a video of the incident went viral on the social media, police said.
Additional Superintendent of Police Dhruba Das said the weapon has been seized.
The weapon belonged to a relative of Mondal, who said that it has been a ritual of his family to fire in the air during weddings.
