Man arrested on charge of raping woman

A man was today arrested on charge of raping a woman at Hatiadih in Seraikela-Kharswan district, police today said.
Rasoraj Mahato, a resident of Hatiadih, was arrested and forwarded to jail on charges of raping a mentally unsound woman of the village on December 8 last, Superintendent of Police, Indrajeet Mahatha said.
According to an FIR lodged on the basis of complaint by the victim's son Pankaj Kumar Mahato under sections 363/366/376 IPC, Rasoraj had abducted the victim while she went to have bath at a nearby pond and brutalised her after dragging towards a jungle on that.
Apprehending foul play, Pankaj immediately approached the police and lodged an FIR in this regard.

Based on the FIR, Mahatha said, the district police swung into action and recovered the motorcycle on the same night while the victim was sent to the Sadar Hospital next day following her recovery.
Later, the doctors referred her to M G M Hospital here for medical check-up, he said.
