Man asked to do social service to get FIR against him quashed

A man was today directed by the Delhi High Court to do social service to get the FIR quashed against him for misbehaving and attempting to assault a woman lawyer two years ago.
The court also suspended the man's driving licence for six months and also imposed Rs 10,000 as fine on him.
Justice Hima Kohli quashed the FIR, registered against the man in 2011 by the woman lawyer, after he tendered a written apology to the court.
In the order, the court directed the petitioner to do the social service in Prayas, a Children's home, an hour every week for a year.

Quashing the FIR under sections 354 (use of force with intent to outrage the modesty of a woman) and 509 (gesture or act intended to insult the modesty of a woman), Justice Kohli ordered the suspension of his driving licence for six months.
The man has approached the court for quashing of the FIR saying the parties have settled the dispute.
The woman had registered the FIR alleging that when she had objected to his inappropriate gesture towards her, the man had not only misbehaved but also used abusive language and tried to assault her in 2011.
