District and Sessions Judge Kishore Chandra Mohapatra pronounced the sentence to Sukru Majhi of Bhagatguda village.
In a fit of rage over a family dispute, Majhi had killed the four, including three women, with a spear on July 16, 2011.
He then walked into the police station and surrendered.
