Man beaten up for sexual assault of mentally ill woman dies

A 41-year old man who allegedly outraged the modesty of a mentally challenged woman died after he was beaten up by her family members, three of whom surrendered before a local court today, police said.
Murugesan had outraged the modesty of the woman three days ago when she was alone in her house at Allampatti near here.
Enraged over this, the parents and three other relatives of the woman had attacked him with clubs, injuring him seriously.
He died without responding to treatment at the Government Rajaji Hospital in Madurai around midnight yesterday.
Three members of the woman's family, including her parents, surrendered before Judicial Magistrate Mariappan, who remanded them to judicial custody for 15 days.

Police said they are on the look out for the other two persons.
