Vivek Kumar (21) was beaten to death in his sleep by his father Kuldeep around 5 am today, a police officer said, adding that other family members and neighbours caught Kuldeep and handed him over to the police.
Kuldeep was allegedly irked over the constant advice by his son Vivek to find a job, the officer said.
Vivek, who worked at a private firm and was the sole breadwinner of the family, lived with his parents, wife and three brothers in Vishwas Park residential colony near Dabri.
The attack was so quick and brutal that Vivek died on the spot due to excessive bleeding from his head injuries, he said.
A case of murder has been registered at Dabri police station and Kuldeep has been arrested, the officer said.
