Man beats son to death; kills self

Angered by his son not heeding to his request of going to school on the pretext that the term fee was not paid, a man allegedly thrashed him to death and then committed suicide by hanging himself near here today.
Police said Ganeshan, a labourer, had asked his son, an class VIII student, to go to school. However, his son said he could not go to the private school as his term fee had not been paid and he was ashamed to go without paying it.
Enraged, Ganeshan allegedly thrashed his son to death, and then hanged his body from a hook in the roof at his house, police said, adding, he committed suicide by hanging, later.
The tragic incident occurred even as Ganeshan's wife had gone to her father's house to get the money to pay the school fees, police said.
