The woman, a resident of Vijay Nagar, lodged a petition in a court here, saying that on May 5, she gave Rs 2.5 lakh to one Raj Singh in order to get her work done. But her work was not done by him.
When she questioned Singh, he allegedly molested her. Upon protesting, he assaulted her following which locals rushed to the spot. The accused then fled from the scene.
Taking cognisance of the petition, the court ordered the city police to register a case.
Police is investigating the case.
