Man booked for rape of woman, who he "married"

A 36-year-old man from Kalyan here has been booked on charges of raping a woman, whom he allegedly married and subsequently abandoned, police said today.
According to Mahatma Phule police from Kalyan, accused Sudhir Ghodke had sexually assaulted the woman several times since 2012 at a lodge here.
Police said the victim lodged a complaint last night following which Ghodke was booked under sections 376,457, 406, 323 and 504 of the IPC.
As per the complainant, the accused took her to Shirdi Saibaba temple and "married" her recently but later took away her ornaments and money on the pretext of buying a house.
However, he reneged on the promise and abused the woman when she questioned him.
Ghodke is absconding and police have made no arrest so far.
