The victim identified as Rahul was caught while allegedly stealing at a house last night following which irate locals beat him to death, they said.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered a pistol and three cartridges, they said, adding a case has been registered and the body has been sent for postmortem.
In another incident, two persons, Rohit (18) and Mohit (12) sustained bullet injuries in celebratory firing during a wedding ceremony at Rohijpur village in this district today, police said.
