Sanoj Kumar, a native of Pokhariya village, had received an SMS, reportedly from Pakistan, informing him that he had won Rs one crore in lucky draw of a private telecom operator which he would receive from the nearest Bank of India branch in due course of time, Deputy Superintendent of Police Rajkishore said today.
Kumar was asked to deposit Rs 29 lakh as taxes in various bank accounts for being eligible to receive the reward, which he did, he said.
The police was probing the matter and the bank accounts in which the complainant deposited Rs 29 lakh was being investigated, the DSP added.
