A man, claiming to be the personal assistant of Union minister Hansraj Ahir, caused a flutter when he tried to address a press conference here to highlight "developmental works" carried out by the district collector.
The man, identified as Umesh Rathod, had called up local reporters for the presser at government Circuit House here.
However, when he did not show up at the venue, the reporters asked Rathod's colleague Narayan Rathod about the former's whereabouts.
After Umesh finally came, the reporters asked him to show relevant documents justifying his claim that he is PA of Ahir, a BJP MP and minister of State for Fertilisers.
However, Umesh claimed that he was a Deputy Manager at Rashtriya Chemicals and Fertilisers at Mumbai. But later said he was posted in Delhi.
Meanwhile, the media persons alerted district collector Sachindrapratap Singh who was baffled by the development.
Umesh later distributed a press note highlighting "developmental works" carried out by the collector and said he had read in local dailies that efforts are afoot to shunt out the officer.
It was later learnt that Narayan Rathod was working for an NGO.
The district collector was not available for comment on what action will be taken against Umesh Rathod and how he could use government premises to address reporters.
