Man commits suicide in police lockup

A man allegedly committed suicide in a police station in Udhampur district of Jammu and Kashmir, police said today.
Subash Chander was found hanging in a lockup in Ramnagar tehsil of the district around 6am today, police said.
He tore the silk cloth stitched on the side of a blanket and hanged himself with it in the lockup, a police officer said, adding a case has been registered.
Chander had been detained in the lockup for questioning about the mysterious death of his wife Sarita who died after consuming poison at her residence on July 22, police said.
