Man commits suicide on Metro tracks

A middle-aged person allegedly committed suicide jumping in front of a metro train at Girish Park Station disrupting metro services for nearly an hour today.
The incident happened at around 10.58 AM when the unidentified person jumped in front of a Garia-bound train, a senior officer of the Kolkata Police said.
The driver immediately applied emergency brakes, following which the person got stuck in between two compartments, he said.
The critically injured person was rescued and rushed to the Calcutta Medical College and Hospital where he passed away in the afternoon, the officer said.
Train services from Dumdum to Maidan was disrupted for about 50 minutes and resumed at 11.50AM, a Metro Railway official said.
