Locals told police that they saw Kawilungbou Chawang running on the streets before jumping into the drain.
Chawang, working for a BPO in Gurgaon and residing at Naraina here, had gone to friend's housein Chirag Delhi last night for a party, a police officer said.
"His friends said he (Chawang) drank with them before leaving late at night without informing them. They searched outside the house but could not trace him," the officer said.
Chawang's friends have alleged foul play and suspect that he was running for his life, the officer said, adding that some injuries were noticed on his head.
As part of investigations, police questioned some locals who were present near the spot at the time of the incident and a case in this regard has been registered at the Malviya Nagar police station.
