Forest officials today succeeded in capturing a leopard which is suspected to have killed four children in Chhindwara district in the last three months.
"After receiving information about man-eater leopard, we set up a cage with a bait in the forest around Lohari Bandari village, 35 km from the district headquarters, and it walked into the trap today," Chhindwara Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) S S Uddey told PTI.
The leopard had killed four children and 20 cattle in three months, he added.
The forest department had installed 50 cameras and around 500 personnel were scouring the forest for the last three months, following the leopard's pug marks, he said.
The animal killed Kalpana (5) in Tamia forest on January 7, and on the same evening it killed Harsh (10) in Bijoripatar village, Uddey said.
Sawan (12) was killed in Chindi area on January 9, while Poonam Salam (10) was killed in Kulsan village on February 7, the DFO said.
