A court in Jammu and Kashmir's Reasi district on Friday convicted a man of raping a 20-year-old woman in 2011 and sentenced him to seven years of rigorous imprisonment.
The District and Sessions Judge Reasi also slapped Rs 10,000 fine on Rakesh Kumar after finding him guilty in the rape case.
A complaint against Kumar, a resident of Bhambla tehsil in Reasi, was filed on July 18, 2011. It was alleged that Kumar had raped the woman, officials said.
On the basis of the complaint, an FIR was registered at Reasi police station and the charge sheet was submitted in a court.
