A court here today awarded eight years of rigorous imprisonment (RI) to a man for raping a minor girl after kidnapping her in the district in 2007.
Fast-Track Court judge Mohammad Khurshid Alam held Vijay Kumar Sah alias Pappu guilty under section 376 (rape) of the IPC and sentenced him to eight years of RI.
The court also awarded the convict another seven-year jail term under section 366(A) (procuration of minor girl) of the IPC and a four-year jail term under section 365 (kidnapping) of the IPC.
All the three sentences will run concurrently.
The victim girl was kidnapped and raped on March 9, 2007.
