A local court today sentenced a man to life imprisonment after convicting him for setting his wife on fire and killing her for dowry about eight years ago.
Additional district court judge Pradip Kumar Patnaik held the man guilty and also imposed Rs 8000 fine on him.
The court, however, acquitted the man's father and mother due to lack of evidence.
The man had set his 24-year-old wife on fire for Rs 20,000 dowry on March 28, 2008 at Kankorada village of Ganjam district.
Police had seized the body from the crematorium.
The court had examined 16 witnesses before convicting the man.
